The story where you get to go underground in the limestone mines, where lots of bats live. The place is Thingbæk limestone mines in North Jutland. Maybe you have seen a bat before when it hunts after the sun has set and flies across the night sky?
The bats hunt insects, which are its favorite food. The bats find their prey with ultrasonic screams that it emits - these are tones that we humans can have difficulty hearing. The bats can be difficult to see, but in winter they hide in the Thingbæk limestone mines, among other places.
Keep an eye out for events at the Rebild Centre with Thingbæk limestone mines, which make bat arrangements around the autumn holidays in week 42.
Enjoy!
